EasyJet launches twice-weekly Gatwick flights to Newquay
EasyJet is to operate a new service between Gatwick and Newquay this summer. The twice-weekly domestic
flights linking Cornwall with the capital start on June 23. They will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with one-way fares starting at £30.99. Nigel Scott, Cornwall Airport

Ryanair ramps up summer services from four UK airports

Ryanair will deploy extra aircraft from Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and London airports this summer, boosting capacity on existing routes and creating 16 new services. A Luton-Wroclaw route has been added, plus four
from Stansted – Forli, Glasgow, Malmö and Parma – with extra frequencies on 50-plus other services from London airports. A new aircraft based at Stansted brings Ryanair’s total London-based fleet to 57 aircraft. A 19th aircraft based at Manchester will increase
capacity by 9%, supporting new routes to Castellón, Spain, and Rimini, Italy. Ryanair has also increased frequencies on 37 Manchester routes, including Faro, Porto, Rhodes, Barcelona, Dubrovnik and Milan. At Birmingham, the addition of a ninth aircraft will boost capacity to three million seats, up by 17%.
Virgin Atlantic boosts summer flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica
Virgin Atlantic will start flying daily to Montego Bay from June 1, up from four flights a week, providing more than 15,000 additional seats from Heathrow through the summer until October 24. The Jamaica Tourist Board will work with Virgin Atlantic on joint marketing and trade engagement initiatives.

New routes are on offer to Agadir, Rome Fiumicino, Marrakesh, Tirana and Warsaw Modlin. Increased frequencies are available on another 18 routes, including Alicante, Malta, Porto, Barcelona, Paris and Valencia. Overall, Ryanair’s Birmingham summer 2026
schedule will deliver 50 routes, and increase its annual passenger numbers at the airport to four million. The airline will base a third aircraft at Newcastle,
delivering more than 210,000 extra seats, representing 27% growth. Four new routes will serve Brussels Charleroi, Budapest, Malta and Marrakesh. There will be increased frequencies on seven routes, including Barcelona, Faro, Malaga, Dublin, Krakow and Milan. In total, Ryanair’s Newcastle schedule for summer
2026 schedule will deliver 22 routes and one million seats, boosting the airline’s annual passenger numbers at the airport to more than 1.3 million.

ITA Airways back at Heathrow with twice-daily link to Rome
Italian airline ITA Airways has returned to Heathrow after securing slots from its shareholder Lufthansa. The Italian national carrier is flying twice-daily to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, marking a return to Heathrow after flights were suspended two years ago.

Hard Rock opens bookings for Malta property launching in July
Bookings have opened for Hard Rock Hotel Malta, which opens in July. Located in St George’s Bay, the music-themed property features 397 sea-view rooms, including 25 suites with private heated pools. There are more than 10 restaurant, bar, lounge and club venues, plus a spa and three indoor and eight outdoor heated pools and tubs.
