Story: Former Thomas Cook staff lose redundancy consultation claim Lorraine Kerr: Disgusting how the ex-staff at Cook were and still are being treated. If it [the ‘protective award’ of up to £4,200] is good enough for regional sales managers, then it should be the same for the staff in the shops. It’s the retail teams that generated the money and bonuses which the regional managers enjoyed seeing in their pay packets. Nicola Allison: I also was a RSM and like my colleague [another commenter] I never received this payment. I am happy for anyone to receive this but we were all one team and this should apply to all staff. Stanley Cargill: So unfair. The fact that a shop didn’t have the amount of staff required to meet the employment law shouldn’t have made any difference. We all ended up in the same redundant state whether we were one of five or one of 25. Julie Ellison: Good grief. Employment law is not fit for purpose. Employees have very little protection.
