Viva Cruises to make debut on Douro River
Viva Cruises will sail on the Douro for the first time in 2025. Set to enter service in May, the line’s newest ship, Porto Mirante, will offer sailings to and from Porto with overnight stays in the city. The line has also introduced themed sailings for its 2025 programme, with crime, theatre and wellness trips available.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has released its summer 2024 Dover departures, featuring five itineraries. The line’s Borealis will sail five cruises to destinations
including Norway, Iceland, Portugal and the Azores. The first departure will be a 14-night Maritime
Cities and Sailing Events of the Baltic itinerary, leaving Dover on June 27. The cruise will call at Kiel and Warnemunde, in Germany; Gdansk, Poland; Visby, Sweden; Tallinn, Estonia; and Helsinki and Turku, both
Finland. Prices start at £2,099. Borealis will then operate an 11-night Whales
and Volcanic Landscapes of Iceland cruise, calling at Pentland Firth and Lerwick in Scotland, and the Icelandic destinations of Akureyri, Isafjordur, Reykjavik, Heimaey and Vestmannaeyjar. Prices lead in at £1,599 for the July 11 departure. The following sailing will be a nine-night Scenic
Norwegian Cruise Line axes Europe
sailings to switch ships to Caribbean Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled some European voyages to switch two ships to the Caribbean earlier than planned this autumn due to “growing demand” for the region. Norwegian Gateway and Norwegian Epic will both begin their Caribbean sailings in October, meaning the former ship’s Europe sailings between September 29 and November 27 and the latter ship’s sailings from October 17 to November 10 have been cancelled.
