Head of travel and international global travel partnerships, Avis Budget Group

Q. Tell us why you are sponsoring the 2018 Agent Achievement Awards. A. The Agent Achievement Awards is one of the best nights in the industry calendar, a long-standing event that recognises the best of the trade, so it’s hugely important for us to be a part of that. The awards night is a great opportunity to build on relationships. It also means we can join in with the celebrations and share the successes with the top agents on what is always an amazing evening.

Awards preview: The biggest celebration of travel agents in the UK, the Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards, is now just a week away. Here we chat to Lynette Dungey, Avis Budget Group’s head of travel and international global travel and partnerships

Q. Tell us a bit about how you work with agents. A. Our agent platform, Beep, is a convenient one-stop-shop for travel professionals. It makes the booking process simpler and more efficient, and agents receive commission. There are also monthly incentives and competitions on the platform. We have Avis and Budget online training academies, with agents entered into quarterly prize draws with great prizes. Our dedicated leisure sales team attend agent roadshows and key conferences. We also have training materials and drive guides to assist agents in selling car hire. We run big incentives too with our airline partners, such as a recent joint promotion with Oman Air, whereby agents could win a place on a luxurious driving tour fam trip in Oman, and the ‘Win a Fiat 500’ incentive to launch Beep was a huge success. As a thank you to the trade we hold an annual

travel industry day at Henley Regatta, with around 200 guests, many of whom are agents.

Q. What developments have there been at Avis Budget in the past year that you can tell us about? A. We are seeing a profound shift in how people view and experience transportation. From shared mobility services like car sharing, ride hailing and bike sharing, to the era of self- driving cars, we’re in the midst of one of the most exciting transformations in automotive history. We envision a world where mobility is completely connected, integrated and on demand, and have already begun executing our strategy to evolve our technology platform, fleet and integrated services to meet our consumers’ changing preferences. Thanks to innovation with mobile apps, connected cars and smart cities, we can revolutionise the customer experience, making it more efficient, enjoyable and seamless than ever.

Q. What do you have planned for the year ahead? A. We have lots in the pipeline, including exciting events and fantastic incentives. I can’t give too much away, but keep your eyes peeled and continue checking Beep.

Q. Will you be promoting any particular products or services around the event? A. We’ll promote our new Avis 360° product, an all-inclusive rental without an insurance excess. It includes unlimited mileage and theft protection and agents will be able to book it through Beep. We’ll also talk about how
