Cunard reveals 2021 ex-Southampton trips on Queen Elizabeth

A new programme of Cunard sailings from Southampton will go on sale from September 29. Full details of Queen

Elizabeth’s itineraries have yet to be revealed, but the line confirmed the vessel will sail around Cornwall, the west coast of Ireland and the Scottish Isles. Short breaks to Amsterdam

with an overnight call, as well as voyages to Norway and Iberia, will also be offered. These sailings will replace

the ship’s now-cancelled departures in Australia, Japan and Alaska between March 26 and December 13, 2021. Queen Mary 2’s 104-night

world cruise in 2022 will depart Southampton on January 10. The Cunard flagship will sail

through the Suez Canal on both the outbound and return legs. The full cruise, as well as six shorter sector sailings, will go on sale on September 8. cunard.com

New Norwegian line Havila ‘will be dependent on agents’

Harry Kemble

New Norwegian coastal cruise line Havila Voyages has pledged to invite 100 UK agents and senior managers to experience its ships next year. The start-up cruise operator has ordered four vessels

to operate along the Norwegian coast from Bergen to Kirkenes after securing a contract from the country’s government to sail the renowned route. The first two vessels, Havila Castor and Havila

Capella, are scheduled to launch in spring 2021, followed by Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux the following year. All ships will have 179 cabins. The line’s UK country manager, Matthew Valentine,

who recently joined the yet-to-launch cruise line from Hurtigruten, hopes to invite a mix of frontline agents and senior cruise retail managers on either Havila Castor or Havila Capella. “I want to get at least 100 people on from the

launch date,” said Valentine. “I am a big believer in getting people, both at the coalface level and a senior level, to see the product. That is the best way to get

people to understand the destination and the ship. “We want to work with anyone who sells our

product. We are a small company and that leaves us with a limited budget, which means we’re dependent on the trade. We’re not able to package ourselves yet so we need the trade to package for us.” Prices for a 12-day round-trip voyage, departing

from Bergen on November 4, 2021, lead in at £829. The ship calls at 34 ports along the coast, with some

stops as short as 15 minutes. As well as six-day northbound and southbound

sailings, Havila also offers two-day sailings, with prices from £241 per person from Trondheim to Bergen on a cruise-only basis. Valentine hopes to recruit a marketing manager and a sales support member next year to help build trade relations in the UK. havilavoyages.com/nb
