Day 8 | Wildlife-rich Isabela and Fernandina
Your day starts at Punta Vicente Roca, on the north- western tip of Isabela Island. Explore the coast by panga boat, looking out for Flightless Cormorants, Galápagos penguins, and boobies. Weather permitting, you’ll get the opportunity to snorkel alongside the cliffs, where you might find green sea turtles and fur seals. In the afternoon,we’ll explore Fernandina, an island with a unique ecology and large population of marine iguanas. Scan the coast for Galápagos sea lions, hawks and penguins.
Day 9 | Darwin’s Santa Cruz Disembark at Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz island to visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. A giant tortoise breeding centre, here you can see recently hatched tortoises and Darwin’s famous finches. Enjoy a cooler climate over lunch in the lush highlands where giant tortoises shuffle about munching on grass and wallowing in pools. You’ll have time for another activity including mountain biking to visit a sugar plantation.
Day 10 | Picturesque Floreana After breakfast, enjoy a panga boat ride along Floreana’s north shore, before taking in the incredible views of the island from Baroness Cove. Later on, we’ll land at Post Office Bay before exploring the wonders around Champion Islet by panga or glass bottomed boat. Here, you can snorkel in one of the archipelago’s best spots.
Day 11 | Relax in Baltra In the morning, relax and recharge the batteries on board while we anchor off Baltra Island. In the afternoon, we’ll land on Las Bachas beach, a great place to spot iconic Galápagos wildlife like flamingos and sea turtles. Enjoy swimming or snorkelling before heading back for an expedition briefing about the following day.
Day 12 | Pristine Santiago Island Today you’ll explore Santiago Island’s pristine beaches and picturesque landscapes, including Buccaneer Cove, home to a large number of marine birds and sea lions. In the afternoon, we’ll head to Puerto Egas where you’ll have the opportunity to see a colony of Galápagos fur seals and exotic birdlife, and to snorkel along the rocky shorelines, typically in the company of marine turtles.
Day 13 | Stunning Rábida & Bartolomé Your day starts on tiny Rábida Island where you can go for a panga ride along the coast to explore the island’s mesmerising red sand beach. Look out for sea lions, marine iguanas, mockingbirds and several species of Darwin’s finches. In the afternoon, we’ll sail to the golden sands of Bartolomé Island where you can swim or snorkel off the beach, discover colourful marine life from our glass-bottom boat, or watch for Galápagos penguins on the shore. Hike up to the summit for fantastic views.
Day 14 | Genovesa, a bird paradise Today you’ll explore Genovesa Island - accessed by climbing up Prince Philip’s Steps. Once there, you’ll enjoy a walk along the trail looking out for large colonies of Nazca Boobies, Red-footed Boobies, Great Frigatebirds and Storm Petrels, amongst many other species of birdlife. In the afternoon, we’ll land and swim at the beautiful beach that fringes Darwin Bay.
Day 15 | One last adventure We’ll start our final morning on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island where a dry landing will provide another chance to see giant tortoises in the wild. After this visit, we’ll transfer directly to the airport in Balta for your flight to Guayaquil or Quito, depending on where you’ll be finishing your adventure.
