Andrew McQuarrie
Fred Olsen Cruises Lines will return to Australia for the first time in more than three years as part of a world cruise. The 101-night 2024 World
Cruise on Borealis will depart from Southampton on January 7 and visit destinations including Hawaii, French Polynesia, Australia, Bali and Oman. The itinerary includes time in
the rainforests of Costa Rica, as well
as a trip to Uluru in Australia, a stint in Alotau in Papua New Guinea, and a visit to New Zealand’s vineyards. Prices start at £9,999. Alternatively, customers can
opt to join sections of the grand voyage. Passengers can embark at the start of the world cruise and sail an 18-night Southampton to Costa Rica itinerary or book a 53-night fly-cruise section of the voyage from Liverpool to Sydney, departing on January 5, 2024. Prices start at £2,399 for the former
Borealis
itinerary and £8,399 for the latter. Martin Lister, Fred Olsen Cruise
Lines’ head of itinerary planning and destination experience, said the company is “absolutely thrilled” about returning to Australia for the first time since 2020. “On this epic cruise
circumnavigating the world, our guests will have a multitude of opportunities to see varying species of marine and wildlife,” he said. “Together with our trusted
partners, we have planned some
incredible once-in-a-lifetime experiences to enable guests to truly immerse themselves in the destination they are visiting. “These include seeing Uluru
at sunrise; discovering more about village life in Papua New Guinea on a shore tour to see local women demonstrate the age-old technique of clay-pot making; and spending time with a dabbawala (food delivery worker) in Mumbai
delivering tiffin lunch boxes.”
