Split and Dubrovnik still dominate the headlines when it comes to Croatia – and for good reason: these sun- splashed coastal cities offer historic and natural beauty in equal measure. But many travellers are switching on to what lies off the coast in between. Brac, with its rocky coves and island trails; glamorous Hvar, home to high-end beach clubs and fine-dining restaurants; and Korcula, which claims to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, are all easily accessible by ferry. Farther afield, the choice only improves: more than a thousand islands are scattered along the Adriatic Coast. Venture to Mljet, half of which is covered by a lush national park, or Vis, Croatia’s most distant inhabited island, where pristine caves and beaches remain largely undiscovered.

Off the coast of Croatia, you’ll find some of the most desirable island locations in Europe, while inland boasts national parks and charming cities. A multi-centre itinerary is the best way to make the most of this captivating country.
