Boasting more than 700 species of fish and 260 species of coral, the island nation of Indonesia has some of the densest marine biodiversity in the world, making for exceptional snorkelling and diving. Indeed, so blessed is the region with breathtaking underwater spots, the biggest challenge clients might face is picking where to go. The Raja Ampat archipelago often steals the headlines: home to a network of hard and soft corals that buzz with schools of fusiliers and silversides, shy moray eels, manta rays and several species of shark, it’s regarded as one of the best dive sites in the world. But with more than 17,500 islands scattered across the heart of the so-called Coral Triangle, which includes the popular tropical islands of Bali and Lombok, Indonesia really is – well – your oyster.
Bali continues to grow in popularity – and for good reason.
Yet lesser-known Lombok and the Gili Islands also offer much to see and discover, both on land and beneath the waves.
