The Insider Rodrigues


Coral-fringed beaches and tropical vegetation beckon in Rodrigues, an unspoilt autonomous island of the Republic of Mauritius. Some 350 miles east of its sister isle, Rodrigues feels wonderfully isolated, with visitors spending their days frolicking in the sparkling water and hiking the island’s mountainous spine. Christmas Island


There’s a reason this tiny Australian territory is nicknamed the Galápagos of the Indian Ocean. A favourite of Sir David Attenborough, it’s famous for its red crabs, sea birds, whale sharks and well- preserved coral reefs. Mozambique


Home to the longest stretch of Indian Ocean coastline in Africa, Mozambique offers true barefoot luxury, with idyllic beaches, lush plains and year-round sunshine. While many are enticed here for the coral reefs and marine life, the country’s bountiful biodiversity extends on land, with elephants, lions and different bird species found in their natural habitats in Gorongosa National Park and Niassa Game Reserve.
