As the title suggests, this topic focuses on a number of important political and social movements that emerged in Ireland during the period 1870–1914. Organisations such as the Home Rule movement and trade unions, as well as cultural nationalist groups, would seek to reform the political and social situation of the Irish people. Their efforts had varying degrees of success and led to the emergence of some of the key figures and events in Irish history.
