Magply makes its mark at Futurebuild
The 5 ft high fl ame billowing from a fan unit on the corner of IPP’s stand at Futurebuild ensured the 16,000 specifi ers who toured the exhibition (ExCeL London, 5-7 March) were left in little doubt regarding one of the key benefi ts to its high performance board brand, Magply. The BBA approved magnesium oxide based alternative to plywood and other panel products is increasingly being specifi ed as an external sheathing for steel and timber frames as well as to form pattresses for the internal fi xtures in high rise construction. In fact Magply’s excellent weather resistance, pull-out strength and all round robustness are seeing it used in multiple applications including as a render substrate in the most exposed locations. Also on show were the manufacturer’s Durawall and Cemgold products, both of which provide consultants and contractors with key performance benefi ts over the competition. The latter is a multipurpose board produced using Portland cement, high purity silica and cellulose reinforcing fi bres. With a Class 0 rating for fi re, the 10 and 12 mm thick Cemgold sheets typically feature in rainscreen and other cladding build-ups where robustness and fi re resistance are paramount.

JB Kind launches innovative new PAS 24 compliant door leaf
Derbyshire-based door distributor JB Kind is launching its new PAS 24 door leaf to doorset manufacturers, and its PAS 24 fi re resistant security doorsets service to developers, architects and specifi ers, after investing in an innovative new door core which has met the stringent set of standards required to be awarded the PAS 24 accreditation. Forming the basis of the company’s new PAS 24 fi re resistant, security doorsets, the new PAS 24 door leaf enables manufacturers to use it within their current offering, or for residential developers to purchase fully assembled PAS 24 compliant entrance doorsets. Doorset fabricators are able to integrate JB Kind’s innovative new door leaf into their current product ranges whereas developers are able to specify PAS 24 compliant doorsets, in both standard and bespoke sizes, and in a wide range of alternative fi nishes. Architects and specifi ers now have the option to request the new JB Kind fi re resistant PAS 24 doorsets, as well as its matching internal doorset counterparts. TTA Awards recognise achievement in the tiling sector

The results of this project are stunning, with the offi ces being transformed with the elegance and glamor that would be expected of a building in the heart of London. There was also a trophy for Highly Commended in this category, which was won by Schlüter Systems Ltd for East Quay, Watchet, Somerset.
