New acoustic liner ensures great acoustics and easy handling

oth a building’s users and its developers have a good reason to get excited about the new Troldtekt Plus 25 panels. This specially developed acoustic panel sets a high standard for both sound absorption and building effi ciency. Danish manufacturer Troldtekt


A/S introduces yet another innovative solution for the construction industry: Troldtekt Plus 25 is an acoustic panel that combines high sound absorption with signifi cant practical advantages such as low weight, space-saving design and low overall costs.


In practice, Troldtekt Plus 25 is a two- layer panel but only 25 mm thick, just like Troldtekt’s traditional single-layer panels. A special acoustic liner made of non-woven acoustic fl eece is applied to the back of the panel and ensures high sound absorption. As a suspended ceiling, Troldtekt Plus 25 has a so-called alpha value of 0.9 (αw = 0.90), which means that it can achieve Class A sound absorption at a suspension depth of 200 mm. The fact that the panel excels in the low frequencies (125-250 Hz) makes it perfect for applications such as classrooms and meeting rooms. The acoustic fl eece itself is so thin that the panel measures and weighs the same as


a traditional 25 mm Troldtekt


acoustic panel – without a backing layer. This makes it signifi cantly easier to stack, cut, lift and assemble on site. With a thickness of only 25 mm and a weight of 11.5 kg, Troldtekt Plus 25 offers signifi cant logistical and practical advantages including


transportation, storage and installation. Depending on the panel specifi ed, reaction

almaison York is a stunning boutique hotel comprising 150 bedrooms,


F&B venues, the


brand’s signature Work + Play meeting and event spaces, spa and gym. With interiors designed by Studio Moren and sited in the iconic former Aviva building in central York, the 1960s brutalist offi ce building has been re-confi gured to create a bespoke venue befi tting its unique location and heritage.


The redesign includes restoring eight fl oors of concrete fl oorplates as well as facades and walls. Two new bars and restaurants were incorporated into the scheme including the Sora Sky Bar with a large terrace overlooking York Minster. With so many hard surfaces in the design, Studio Moren needed to fi nd a solution to control acoustics within the spaces from the restaurants and decided to use Troldtekt’s wood wool acoustic panels as part of the ceiling designs. Specifi ed in an innovative two-tone design, the destination restaurant complements the wider 1960s inspiration and the brand’s playful image. Troldtekt’s wood wool acoustic panels are frequently specifi ed in schools, restaurants, leisure spaces and commercial properties where noise levels can be uncomfortably loud. Panels are available in a variety of different structures and colours, combining optimal sound absorption with an award-winning design.
