How to Use this Book
Super Sleuth is a unique mathematical problem-solving series for 1st to 6th Class primary school pupils. Problem-solving requires pupils to understand and explore a problem, find a strategy, use the strategy to solve the problem and look back and reflect on the solution. Super Sleuth focuses on the process of problem-solving and the development of the ten main problem-solving strategies. The series has regular built-in revision units, which consolidate problem-solving skills.
Differentiation 1 2 3
Differentiation is catered for in each unit through the use of bronze, silver and gold medals that indicate the level of difficulty and provide an entry point for every pupil as well as opportunities for high-achievers to be challenged.
Collaborative learning
The series facilitates collaborative learning through whole-class, pair and group work activities. This creates an ideal classroom environment for pupils to develop their maths language and thinking, in which the teacher can act as facilitator and every pupil’s contribution is valued. Learning can be applied at home through practice.
Dedicated strategy units
Each book dedicates five units to a specific strategy and pupils are encouraged to utilise and apply the strategies where relevant.
