the afternoon before the dinner. In order to reduce overall costs, Council has agreed to move the date of future Annual General Meetings to 1st March. This means that the next AGM will be held on Monday 1st March 1999 at a venue in the Manchester area. This date will coincide with a one day BLF Conference and the North West Branch Annual Dinner. Council hopes that this combination of three BLF events will encourage higher attendance, and increased support and participation in BLF affairs.

In his address, the BLF President, Adrian Parsons, began by

thanking our sponsors, Witco, Infineum, RS Clare, Elf Atochem and Total Oil GB for their generous support. He then went on to speak of the consolidations and industry changes and what the BLF is doing to accommodate them. He spoke of the introduction of a new subscription structure with its multi-tiered membership rates, which will be phased in and fully operational by the next financial year. It is hoped the lower rates applicable to smaller company membership will encourage more companies to join the BLF.
