I in the

wake up at 2.30 a.m. to start my morning workout. I finish my workout at 5.30 a.m. and drink a

green juice, while catching up on my emails. I’m at the fair in my smart- casual activewear by 8 a.m., ready for a day of meetings with customers from around the world… Just kidding! Well, not about the 8 a.m. part. customers finished copies of projects they liked in Bologna and ask for input or feedback on new projects that we’ve prepared especially for the fair. If we’re lucky, everyone will love our new books—some people might even commit at the fair—and then when we get home we can confidently carry on creating the rest of the book. Tat said, negative feedback is also useful as it can stop us from pursuing a bad idea, or at least an idea that might not work in lots of markets. Around 75% of our business comes from foreign rights sales, so it’s crucial for us to make books that we can sell in as many languages as possible, and the fair is a great opportunity to make sure we’re on the right path. I’m not hugely into big nights out,

so I might have dinner with our rights agents. But usually I’ll sneak back to my hotel for some peace and quiet.
