he preparations for World Book Day (WBD) have begun with a bang—the bang of an oven door, that is— with Roxanne and Mark Hoyle’s freshly baked Greg the Sausage Roll: Lunchbox Superhero, illustrated by Gareth Conway, taking the number one spot in the Official UK Top 50. With more than 18,000 copies sold through Nielsen BookScan’s Total Consumer Market in its first week, the title not only led 2024’s WBD titles, but also bested last year’s top release You Choose Your Adventure by Pippa Goodhart, illustrated by Nick Sharrat, in its launch week.


The Hoyles are also the creators of popular YouTube channel “LadBaby” and responsible for five number one Christmas
