Fiction (p58) and Non-Fiction (p59) charts in full
are up 36.3% compared with Jenkins Reid’s last hardback (Carrie Soto Is Back), which sold 38,347 copies, her second-best hardback performance behind Malibu Rising. King’s Never Flinch – previously
number one in the Original Fiction (OF) chart – has seen sales drop 67.5%, pushing it into second place. That is an expected reduction for King with sales of his last hardback novel, Holly, falling a similar amount in its second week. Total sales for King’s latest are a little behind the previous book to feature Holly Gibney, down 5.2%, or the equivalent of 1,506 copies fewer through the tills. Reverend Richard Coles’ A Death
on Location moves up to third with 4,629 sales in its first official week on sale. That is 35.5% down compared with The Murder at the Monastery’s first week in June 2024, partly due to early sales this year of 1,301 copies prior to official publication – but even with those added, the latest instal- ment in the Canon Clement series would still be down 17.3% and there would be no change to its third-place position in the OF chart.

the TCM Top 10 this week is the 2019 mass-market paperback edition of Raynor Winn’s The Salt Path, which benefits from increased exposure thanks to the recently released film. Combining the origi- nal mass-market paperback with the film tie-in results in sales of 14,143 units, a rise in 21.9% week on week and a figure that would see The Salt Path walk into third place on the TCM. As it is, Winn’s two editions are
at 10th and 17th place in the overall charts and Winn retains the Paperback Non-Fiction chart number, but the film tie-in
concedes second place to indie bookshop favourite, Chloe Dalton’s Raising Hare, which has seen its sales jump to 155.3% to 7,334 copies. In a good week for the Hardback
Non-Fiction chart, Duncan Ferguson’s memoir Big Dunc (Century) has kept hold of the top spot with only a slight sales rise of 2.3% to 4,340 copies. Meanwhile, the Children’s Top
20 has seen sales drop a quarter in the week following half-term in England and Wales. After two weeks at number one, Walliams and Stower have slipped to fourth place with The World’s Worst Superheroes, allowing Coco Wyo’s Cozy Corner and Cozy Cuties to take the top two slots, despite both experiencing a sales decline of more than 20% week on week. Overall sales in the TCM have
dropped 2.6% to 3.2 million – accru- ing a total of £30.4m, down 1.3% compared with the previous seven days. Volume is up 0.6% year on year, with value rising slightly more by 2.7%.
