Elle McNicoll’s A Kind of Spark zipped into the Children’s & YA Fiction top 20 following its Waterstone Children’s Book Prize win last week, surging 1,155% in volume week on week. The prize’s 2019 winner, Onjali Q Raúf’s The Boy at the Back of the Class, also bounced back into the top 20.




The paperback was also released during a lockdown, but only had to wait a handful of weeks before restrictions eased—and its sales have remained remarkably consistent since numbers returned to the TCM in mid-March, with the title’s weekly volume falling below 1,000 copies sold just twice in that time period.
