hen Jasmine Richards ( 1) founder of Storymix – a company that creates original and high-concept series for children featuring

inclusive characters to be sold directly to publishers – first spoke to her own children about the idea for The Other Father Christmas, they did not believe that it had not already been done. Father Christmas retiring and look- ing for his replacement? That surely exists already, they said. “We watched loads of Christmas movies

and there was one where it looked like it was going in that direction, but it didn’t,” she says. “They said they couldn’t believe it. It’s just a very simple, straightforward idea.” The Other Father Christmas is a diverse and

inclusive Christmas book – rare, perhaps non- existent, on bookshelves – in which six different people from across the globe, including Mikey’s Gramps, compete to become the new Santa.
