antasy phenomenon Rebecca Yarros, Women’s Prize-shortlisted Aria Aber and 2024 Polari Debut Prize winner Nicola Dinan have been shortlisted for the inaugural New Adult Book
Prize alongside seven others. The shortlist announcement on 28th August
was well-received by authors, industry profes- sionals and readers alike, performing exception- ally well on social media for the prize’s first shortlist. The news garnered over 36,000 views on Instagram on the day of announcement, over half of which were from users who did not already follow the account. “It was fantastic to
see the shortlist launch to such overwhelming support and positivity from the community,” said prize chair Katie Fraser. “From nearly 100 submissions, these 10 books stand as testament to the vibrancy of new adult fiction and wealth of talent in this space. In different ways – and sometimes in different worlds! – the authors beautifully articulate the concerns, challenges, joy and laughter of new adulthood.” Celebrating the news on social media, nomi-
nee Laura Wood wrote: “I believe so strongly that we don’t have a single coming-of-age moment, that adulthood is something strange and nebulous that we navigate all our lives.
