top 20 in its entirety since November 2015). Speaking of which, September’s
other big hardback behemoth, Robert Galbraith’s The Running Grave, scored second in the Audible ranking. The Robert Glenister- narrated Cormoran Strike book knocked The Last Devil to Die off the top spot in the Nielsen BookScan weekly print charts upon release, though the latter had boomeranged back to the top a week later. The first two books in Galbraith’s private detective series pre-date the Audible chart’s inception in The Bookseller, but every title since has claimed the Audible monthly number one, as recently as The Ink Black Heart in August 2022. Podcaster and
former MP Rory Stewart’s Politics on the Edge scaled third place, pipping fellow podcaster Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO to the non-fiction top spot for the month. Stewart’s call-to-arms fared considerably better than his co-host Alistair Campbell’s But What Can I Do?, which charted eighth in May, and obliterated his former boss’ Theresa May’s The Abuse of Power—which shifted 21,805 fewer copies than Politics on the Edge in hardback in their shared
launch week and didn’t trouble the audio charts at all. With an all-new top four push-

Holly also barrelling into the top 10. Miriam Margolyes’ Oh Miriam!, her follow-up to multiple Audible chart number one This Much is True, hit 12th, as Joy Ellis’ The River’s Edge, narrated by Richard Armitage, surged into 14th. David Mitchell’s Unruly, released right at the tail end of September, notched up 20th place. But with a two-week reign in the Nielsen BookScan Hardback Non-Fiction top 20 at the start of October, maybe it’ll be eyeing up Osman’s throne for next month.
