SkyTrac and Airbus Helicopters Announce Real-Time Helionix Alerting Solution
SkyTrac Systems Ltd. and Airbus Helicopters recently announced the launch of a line-fit, real-time Helionix alerting solution that is available on H135, H145, H160, and H175 rotorcraft. This solution will allow operators to receive operational data from the helicopter while it’s in-flight.
The solution, enabled by SkyTrac’s ISAT- 200A, integrates with Airbus’ Helionix system to transmit the in-flight data captured in real-time to ground crews via the Iridium network. Operators can receive real-time in-flight parameters such as usage monitoring system (UMS) exceedances, helicopter tail number, position, time, speed and altitude data, one-engine-inoperative (OEI) alerts, fuel level alerts, caution-panel alerts, and chip detection occurrences through this new solution. Optionally, these in- flight parameters can also be offloaded post-flight over the cellular network to streamline operations and avoid manual data offloading.
SkyTrac’s solution enables operators of the H135, H145, H160, and H175 helicopters to meet IOGP 690 standards for offshore missions by seamlessly transmitting Usage Monitoring System data in real time. The same technology enhances various operations across the industry, including helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS), by improving situational awareness and operational efficiency through real-time UMS visibility. Proven in the field with leading H135 and H145 operators, the solution reflects SkyTrac’s commitment to safety and performance across critical missions. Powered by the ISAT-200A and DAL- 200 or DLS-140, this solution provides both satellite and cellular connectivity and features direct integration with the Helionix system for seamless inflight and post-flight offloading of UMS data, enhancing operational effectiveness.
This is not the first time SkyTrac and Airbus have partnered on a solution for their aircraft. In 2022, SkyTrac announced it was selected for the H160M French Joint Light Helicopter Program, which will see SkyTrac providing the helicopter manufacturer with Iridium
Certus connectivity systems for its newly announced H160M rotorcraft on behalf of the French Armament General Directorate. Prior to that, SkyTrac had also partnered with Airbus in providing its avionics direct from the factory on H145, H160, H175, and H225 models and, most recently, developed an ISAT-200A and DAL-200 solution for the H135, which saw its first factory installation just last year.
“We are excited to be able to announce the availability of this solution in partnership with Airbus and highlight how we are committed to providing solutions that benefit the safety of air transport operators in the oil and gas industry and beyond. Our strong partnership and history with Airbus enables us to deliver this solution for H135, H145, H160, and H175 operators, ensuring they have access to the real-time flight data they need to meet regulatory standards and operate effectively in all environments,” said Rodrigo Lima, director of business development of SKYTRAC.
