Operators worldwide rely on Rhotheta RDFs (radio direction finders) to track, locate, and recover personnel and assets.
The Rhotheta RT-600 calculates the bearing to targets such as EPIRB, PLB, ELT and AM/FM emitters on VHF-UHF frequency bands. It also decodes Cospas-Sarsat beacon ID and location data on 406 MHz.
Once installed mostly as stand-alone sensors, nowadays RDFs are increasingly integrated within the airborne mission system together with other sensors.
Rhotheta’s new RT-600 GC (Glass Cockpit) configuration allows the mission management software (MMS) to fully control the DF, no longer requiring installation of the legacy display control unit (DCU) on the instrument panel.

Available on the TDFM-9000, Forestry Mode addresses the space installation challenges in the cockpit and airframe associated with updated U.S. Forest Service (USFS) communications requirements.
Forestry Mode is an advanced software / hardware interface combination that allows the TDFM-9000 to operate as either two or three radios. The USFS requires radios to have defined main and guard capabilities. By utilizing the TDFM-9000’s transceiver 4 or 6 VHF module capacity, in Forestry mode, these modules are paired into main and guard functions. Main and guard antenna ports are switched via the newly developed ASU-9000 to a single antenna for each pairing, requiring only three antennas in a full six-module installation versus six. Mic, audio and PTT lines are also combined so only three positions are required on the audio panel, resulting in significant cockpit, airframe space, and weight savings.
