We have learned a lot from our fixed-wing brethren over the years. The airline playbook is a result of lessons learned from numerous incidents and accidents. In the Part 121 world, “mentoring” comes from an experienced captain while the new pilot (first officer) learns the ins and outs by way of IOE (initial operating experience) training and guidance.
Maybe it’s time we borrowed another option from the airline playbook.
