Heli Austria Signs Agreement to Purchase 10 E3 Goggles from ASU

Aviation Specialties Unlimited Inc. (ASU) announced at European Rotors that Austrian-based Heli Austria signed an agreement for the delivery of 10 new ASU E3 NVGs. Heli Austria will be the first operator in Austria with the new E3 Goggles.

“We have worked with Heli Austria since 2015,” said ASU Vice President of Sales Dan Meyer. “Heli Austria flies missions all over the world, but the new E3 Goggles will be specifically for their air ambulance HEMS operations in Austria.”

Heli Austria has eight bases in Austria and flies more than 5,000 rescue missions a year. It has been flying missions since 1983 and operate in 10 countries around the world. ASU has modified 15 aircraft for Heli Austria including Super Pumas, AS350s, and MD900s.

“Countless lives have been saved because of the incredible work of Heli Austria,” said Frankfurt, Germany-based ASU Chief Pilot, Director of Safety, and European Sales Representative Alexander Emmel. “Whether it is rescuing skiers, helping a crash victim or assisting with search and rescue missions in extreme mountainous areas, their team of highly trained pilots and crew members are some of the most highly trained and skilled in the region.”

Roy Knaus is the CEO of Heli Austria. “We wanted to purchase the E3 goggles because it is the next evolution in goggle technology,” said Knaus. “These goggles will be a big improvement for our crews. They are 30% lighter than AVS- 9 NVGs, which means less fatigue for our pilots. ASU has provided our company with great service and support for years, and we are thrilled with this new purchase.”

ASU will deliver the new E3s in early 2024 and will maintain them for Heli Austria for two years.

34 Jan/Feb 2024 Enstrom Announces 2024 Maintenance Training Dates

Enstrom Helicopter Corporation recently announced the official dates for its 2024 maintenance training classes. The dates are as follows:

Piston June 3-7 Sept. 23-27

Turbine June 10-14 Sept. 30-Oct. 4

Each course will run for five days, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Mechanics and pilots who join Enstrom’s training courses will learn all the subtle nuances of how an Enstrom helicopter operates. Instructors will emphasize inspection procedures, routine maintenance, overhaul, airframe and rotor system troubleshooting, main rotor tracking, and tail rotor balance procedures. Participants can practice what they learn with hands-on display models and special tooling.

All maintenance courses are I.A. renewal accredited. Enstrom offers two options for certification. The first is for A&P mechanics, and the other is for non-mechanics to certify familiarization with Enstrom.

Anyone who wants to attend is welcome to take the class, and following completion, attendees can return for refresher courses as often as they like. Completing both classes at the same time is not required.

Classes have a limited number of seats available each session. Accepted applicants will be responsible for securing all lodging, transportation, and meals. See all of our upcoming events here (https://enstromhelicopter.com/calendar/).
