FROM THE DESK OF THE EDITOR

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA, IS THE CENTER OF THE 2020 HELICOPTER UNIVERSE

Each year, the global helicopter industry comes together in one location to educate participants, recognize leaders, build networks, and create solutions that will lift our industry into the next decade. This year’s HAI Heli-Expo is in Anaheim, California, and it should have something for everyone:

For the Helicopter Operator Helicopter operators and all associated business owners have good reason to attend HAI Heli-Expo 2020. With 700 industry-related exhibitors, 18,000 attendees, and dozens of HAI committee and forum meetings, there’s no better place to develop connections with new vendors and research the latest innovations. It’s the place to discover the issues that will shape our industry’s future.

For the Pilot and Mechanic Helicopter eye candy is not the best reason for pilots to attend the event, but it’s a good reason nonetheless! In addition to the 60-plus helicopters that will be on the show floor of one million square feet, there are plenty of opportunities for continuing education. In addition to the expo, the conference enables pilots and mechanics to choose from more than 100 education sessions

that are directly applicable to their jobs, while networking with fellow professionals from around the world. One example is the Rotor Safety Challenge, a series of over 60 expert-led safety sessions. The sessions are an easy and economical way to learn industry best practices, including safety tools and techniques one can apply back on the job.

For the Military to Civilian Transitioner HAI and the industry honor military service and recognize that a successful career in military aviation does not easily translate to the commercial sector. There are several things transitioners need to know now in order to prepare for a career in civil aviation after retirement or ETS. Taught by those who successfully made the transition, attendees benefit from advice and mentoring on important skills and practices that will lead to a successful civil aviation career. Several mentors from the civil helicopter industry — most of whom were in the military — will be present.

As for the Rotorcraft Pro team, we will be covering the expo in force to learn about the trends impacting our industry, meet our readers, and touch base with our loyal customers.

Please stop by our Rotorcraft Pro booth (5947) and say hello!
