Go® Robot Mouse Activity Set
What did you want to achieve by using this product?
How did the children engage with the product?
We wanted to develop children’s independent use of educational technology. We found that children use technology freely in the home corner and access games and software on the iPads but wanted something interactive which we could link
The children could not wait to get their hands on the mouse and have a go themselves. The instructions were straightforward. After showing the children the simple instructions, they made the mouse work independently. I placed it on a tray and away they went. I got many observations for all areas of the EYFSP when they were playing
with the product.
to all areas of learning. Did the product help you achieve this? We have found the mouse really easy to use for the
children and have been able to link it to use with numbers, phonics, sequencing events and parts of stories, shape recognition, all whilst developing
their technology skills. Why do you like this product?
The product came within a few weeks and was easy to assemble and get going. It has been child proof and really appealing in colour and design. I like the mouse product because it is easy and straightforward to programme giving the children a fun introduction to coding. In comparison to similar products, it is much more aff ordable but serves the same purpose.
Were you able to include the product as part of your lesson planning and delivery?
I very much use the product in daily lessons from number recognition, to letter recognition, shape naming and also for sequencing. E.g. Can you move the mouse to the fi rst part of the story. Can you move the mouse to the part that comes next…
How do you rate the product against similar products that you may have used before?
I would rate the product as good as similar products. It works the same and enables the children to learn the same skills but for less money. I would defi nitely recommend it for anyone with a tight budget that wants to develop all areas of learning using ICT to engage their learners.
