Pattern
making and mindfulness
Patterns are found in nature (snowfl akes, fl owers, shells) but are also fun and inviting to recreate. Loose parts, especially those with fl attened bases that allow them to stand upright, are perfect for getting children to delve into the wonderful world of pattern making. Making patterns is also a great way to achieve mindfulness and introduce loose parts play into your setting.
Make your own mandala
The concept of mandala design is simple: start with an important central piece and create a geometric circular pattern around it, spreading out as far as there is space, time, and resources from a mixture of natural resources, such as pine cones, leaves or pebbles and loose parts of your choice.
