News Curaa Group acquires Broome End in Essex

Curaa Group has acquired Broome End Care Home in Essex, which won the coveted ‘Care Home of The Year’ and highly commended ‘Champion of Champions’ at the 2019 Prosper Awards for Essex County Council. The home provides person-centred care in

an historic converted manor house. The site offers attractive outdoor space including a

large terrace overlooking meadows and a state-of-the-art sensory garden. Curaa Group is a family business, headed

by Haris and Amer Khan. Haris Khan says: “We are very proud of our amazing team, who recently won Home of the Year at the Essex Care Sector Awards, and we intend to build on this momentum as we go into 2020. Our hope

is to become a leading providing of care in Essex and beyond.” Liz Woollett of Chandler and Co, supported Haris and Amer Khan following a recommendation from another client. Having worked together on several projects since 2018, Ms Woollett was able to endorse Curaa Group as a strong buyer and confirm its financial position to the selling agents, securing a prompt viewing with the vendor. Liz Woollett says: “We’ve really enjoyed

working to help Curaa Group acquire this business, which is a great opportunity for them. Our clients had a clear idea of the business they sought and we quickly established their buying power to realise this. "We help our clients to find the right businesses and work closely with them through the entire process until they collect the keys. We wish Curaa Group every success and look forward to working together again in the future.”

Home celebrates improved rating

The professional care team at Rowena House in Old Road, Conisbrough, are celebrating a new, improved rating from care industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Previously rated ‘requires

improvement’ since December 2016, the committed team at Rowena House have managed to turn the service around and evidence to inspectors the good quality care that residents receive in all relation to all five key lines of enquiry (KLOEs) - safe, effective, care, responsive and well-led. Owned by Runwood Homes, the

40-bedroom South Yorkshire home provides care for people over the age of 65 living with dementia as well as those who require personal care support. Kathleen George, home manager at Rowena House, says: “We are so pleased to officially receive a good rating. We practise person-centred care, looking after the needs and wishes of every individual in our home. "Our dedicated and passionate

team are happy that their efforts are consistent and compliant, to provide an effective residential care service. Our continuous training and service monitoring ensures a safe, inspiring and comfortable living environment for all.”

8 Charity Heritage Care rebrands as Ambient

Heritage Care, incorporating Community Options, has announced a rebrand to reflect that it is one charity delivering many different services. Ambient will be the new brand that brings the portfolios of the charity under one name and one logo for the first time from April 2020. One of the top 20 generic not-for-profit health and social care providers in the UK, the charity delivers services meeting the needs of some of the most vulnerable adults in society. Operating in over 140 locations, it provides over 30 thousand hours of care to people on a weekly basis to support a range of needs due to the ageing process, learning disability or mental illness. The rebrand is part of the charity's’ five-

year plan, which reasserts its commitment to delivering the highest quality care and support nationally. Mark Milton, chief executive, says: “We

believe that bringing our portfolios together under one new name will allow us to convey our person-centred offering and directly improve understanding of our capabilities. We are fully

committed to taking active and continuous action to ensure that we retain our focus on achieving the highest possible standards in support and that we remain a partner and employer of choice.” The charity provides support in a range of settings including registered care homes and supported living projects, domiciliary care and care in the community, day services, respite and short breaks, nursing care, end of life care and community engagement and inclusion services. Davina Sellick, director of marketing and communications, says: “Our broad range of expertise means we can fully support people to meet their specific, individual needs and to care for people with multiple and complex diagnoses, but this message was difficult to communicate whilst operating under multiple names. “Through the rebrand, we aim to raise

awareness and improve understanding of how our combined services can meet individual requirements. One name, one logo and one website enable us to better articulate how we can expertly support those in need.”
