Anchor becomes first care provider to win Inclusive Employers Gold Status
Anchor has been awarded Gold Status in the 2023 Inclusive Employers Standard – the first housing and care provider to achieve the accolade. The recognition for England’s largest not- for-profit provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life follows the Bronze award status Anchor achieved in 2020 and the Silver Award status it achieved in 2021. Anchor is a member of Inclusive Employers,
which provides expert advice and support to workplaces committed to inclusion, accrediting those meeting the Inclusive Employers Standard. Its Gold Status recognises the work Anchor does with residents and workers to ensure inclusion forms part of the provider’s everyday approach – creating a workplace where all colleagues can thrive. Anchor chief executive Sarah Jones said:
“While we know there’s always more we can do, we’re absolutely delighted to have achieved Gold accreditation from Inclusive Employers, recognising us as among the best employers in the UK when it comes to equality, diversity and inclusion. “For us to have done this only 18 months
since we achieved Silver is a mark of the hard work and firm commitment of so many across the organisation to inclusion in the workplace.” Teagan Robinson-Bell, equality, diversity,
and inclusion manager, said: “I am thrilled to see Anchor’s progress to Gold after being awarded Silver 18-months ago. It really demonstrates the organisation’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion. “We’re the first provider of care and housing to be awarded Gold and I’ve really enjoyed watching our colleagues drive our diversity and inclusion agenda within their teams too. We’re dedicated to being a truly diverse and inclusive organisation, and this award recognises that commitment.” Inclusive Employers MD Claire Williams
added: “Huge congratulations to the team at Anchor having received a Gold in their Inclusive Employer Standard assessment 2023. The organisation has demonstrated significant work and huge commitment to inclusion over a number of years, starting by completing the Foundation Inclusive Employers Standard 2019, and then the full assessment on three further occasions, moving through Bronze and Silver and now achieving Gold. “As only the third organisation to ever
achieve Gold, and the first in the care and housing sector, this is a massive achievement and a fantastic example of inclusion return on investment – Anchor is a real role model for other employers with big inclusion ambition. Well done!”

North East care provider Hark Group Holdings has trebled in size following a number of acquisitions across Tyne and Wear. “It’s the kind of reassurance a growing business needs when trying to achieve their growth targets. Lee Humble and the team at Azets provided me with the financial advice and assistance to accelerate the momentum needed to get the deal over the line. “I look forward to working with both again for any possible future acquisitions.” Chris Hughes, corporate partner at Mincoffs Solicitors, commented: “It has been fantastic to work closely with both Hardip and the team at Hark and with Lee and the team at Azets to deliver Hark Group Holding’s vision for the North East care sector. “Thorncliffe House and Cedar House Care Home are fantastic additions to Hark’s portfolio and it has been a pleasure to assist the group in acquiring these two business, so it can continue to provide essential, top quality, care across the region.”
Aria Care celebrates official launch with tea parties
The newly formed Aria Care Group has celebrated its official launch with a series of Alice in Wonderland tea parties. Aria Care was formed following the acquisition of part of an operating business owned by Caring Homes, which included a portfolio of 50 care homes. The group promises a ‘substantive’ investment programme that will see many of its services refreshed and refurbished. The official launch took place at Aria’s support office in Colchester and featured an Alice in Wonderland-themed afternoon tea attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Colchester and staff from Bradbury House care home in Braintree. Tea parties also took place in each of Aria’s care homes. Aria Care CEO Caroline Roberts said: “The whole team embraced the Alice in Wonderland theme which added to the success of the event. It was a great opportunity to bring everyone together as one team and thank them for the hard work during the transition to Aria Care. “Aria Care reflects our commitment to
providing excellent care and delivering a quality lifestyle to the elderly people in our communities. We are delivering a service which our residents and families can trust. We feel our new motto ‘Care from the Heart’ reflects this dedication.” Kirsty Allen, home manager at
Bradbury House, added: “Thank you to all of the team that were involved in bringing the party together and for making it such a fun day for our residents. “It was a brilliant way to mark the launch and toast to new beginnings and an exciting future.”
