Runwood dashing to open Liberty House in Doncaster next month

Care provider Runwood Homes is in the final stages of construction of its 81-bed Liberty House care home in Doncaster due to open to residents next month. The home, to be owned and operated by

Runwood Homes in partnership with Doncaster Council, will replace round-the- clock care provision of nearby homes from which residents will move. Facilities at the care home set over two

floors will also include a salon for hairdressing and beauty therapy, a cinema room/quiet space lounge, an activities room, dedicated sensory areas for those living with dementia, as well as several lounge and dining areas. All bedrooms will offer ensuite facilities, a

TV, telephone point and wifi and everyone will have access to safe outdoor living. Outdoors, an enclosed, fully-furnished quadrangle will be finished with plants and

shrubs, while a landscaped garden will feature BBQ facilities. Residents will have access to a café,

complete with a self-serve option, to entertain their fellow residents and visitors. “Our distinct knowledge and experience

within the care sector allows us to marry up the most ideal and safe living environment for older people, including those living with memory loss, together with our existing professional care team, to provide an optimal offering for care seekers – with robust infection prevention and control measures in place as standard to best protect everyone,” said Runwood Homes director of construction and facilities Tom Sanders. The opening next month will coincide with

the transfer of residents from nearby homes to Liberty House in partnership with Doncaster Council.

Leamington Spa plans make splash for Montpelier Estates

Specialist care developer Montpelier Estates has won permission to build a 93-unit facility in Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. Warwickshire District Council granted

consent for the Queensway scheme consisting of a 78-bed care home and 15 assisted living apartments. The development site is occupied by a two-

Fleet revamp to set sail after planning

green flag Plans to redevelop the Fleetwood Lodge care home in Fleet in Hampshire have been approved by Hart District Council. DWA Architects applied in February to build

a 60-bed facility with ensuite bathrooms to replace the existing care home that closed last December. The London outfit, in cooperation with

Principal Care and Savista Developments, wants to build a three-storey care home covering a floor area of approximately 4,185 square metres. The existing Fleetwood Lodge care home

buildings will be demolished to make way for a facility consisting of 18 bedrooms at ground

6

floor level, 21 bedrooms at first floor level and 21 bedrooms at second floor level. The care home will provide day care and

other facilities such as dining rooms, bistro, cinema and a hair salon. DWA said the new Fleetwood Lodge would

also feature activity rooms designed for baking, arts and crafts; lounges and reading rooms, and landscaped gardens.

The three-storey Queensway care home

will feature ensuite bedrooms, day rooms, dining facilities, service support, staff support and ancillary offices. The ground and first floors will each

house 27 bedrooms and the second floor will have 24 bedrooms. The 15 close care apartments will be

sited in a self-contained, three-storey unit accessed independently from the care home. The Queensway development will be

operated by Warwick provider Berkley Care. News inbrief
