Project of the Year – Refurbishment
by 11-year-old Ollie Ball, and his mother, Krista, which has been donating free mental health jars to support individuals struggling with mental health. The jars have gone to children’s and elderly hospices, children’s wards, and services supporting addiction, young carers, and the homeless. Over 4,000 ‘mental health worry pets’ have also been hidden across Shropshire, and individuals have connected to a Facebook group. Ollie has experienced anxiety from several operations, including heart surgery, and is supporting others ‘to show they are not alone’, and that ‘experiencing adversity can build resilience in life’. The judges
said: “What a fantastic, but simple idea to raise awareness and start discussions, evidenced by BBC pick-up.” While Ollie Ball couldn’t attend, the audience was shown a short video, expressing her thanks for the recognition, featuring his mother, Krista.
