EBME Expo 2025

EBME Expo 2025 - Shaping the Future of Healthcare

Professor John Sandham, Chair of the EBME Expo, highlights the event’s focus on practical knowledge and best practices in technology management, acquisition, connectivity, use, and maintenance. The Expo aims to demonstrate how optimised healthcare technology contributes directly to NHS productivity, cost-effectiveness and, most importantly, enhanced patient safety.

The EBME Expo returns to the Coventry Building Society Arena on 25-26 June 2025, offering a comprehensive platform for healthcare technology professionals. With an expanded exhibition area and leading international companies displaying cutting-edge medical innovations, this year’s event promises to be more impactful than ever.

Stakeholder collaboration and the revolution of operating theatres In the modern hospital, the operating theatre is no longer a standalone environment for surgeons — it has become an interconnected hub where professionals leverage cutting-edge technology to achieve exceptional patient outcomes. This collaborative approach, rooted in a shared commitment to personalised care, is redefining surgical practice and enhancing patient safety. Today’s smart operating theatres are defined

by the seamless integration of surgical teams; comprising surgeons, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), nurses, engineers, and data analysts. This collaborative environment fosters a holistic perspective, where technology serves as an extension of the team’s collective expertise. Supporting this integration are EBME/ clinical engineers, who manage and maintain the intricate medical technology, ensuring the flawless operation of robotic surgical platforms, advanced monitoring systems, and complex data networks. Crucially, feedback from all operating theatre staff ensures that technology acquisition aligns precisely with clinical demands. Integrating technology also extends to data analysis, where real-time data visualisation, powered by AI, allows surgical teams to monitor patient vitals and equipment performance with precision. Every heartbeat and subtle change in vital signs are meticulously tracked and analysed, equipping clinicians with the insights

needed for informed, split-second decisions. This collaboration extends outside the hospital. Clinicians and engineers continuously engage in research and development, refining existing technologies and pioneering new advancements. This ongoing exchange fosters a culture of continuous professional development (CPD), ensuring every team member remains proficient in the latest medical innovations. Improving clinical outcomes and patient

safety remain as the foundation of this ecosystem. AI-driven monitoring systems function as vigilant safeguards, detecting anomalies that could otherwise go unnoticed. Robotic precision minimises human error, while robust cybersecurity measures protect sensitive patient data. The result? Enhanced precision in surgical procedures, proactive monitoring that improves patient safety, and data-driven decision-making that optimises clinical care.
