International Women’s Day Spotlight

Building a more inclusive future in HealthTech

How can we ensure the HealthTech sector promotes a culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive? As part of International Women’s Day, CSJ invited some top female HealthTech leaders to share their views on why diversity matters in the sector, their leadership vision for the future, and how we can encourage the next generation of women to drive innovation forward in this field.

Fostering an inclusive culture is fundamental to the success of the HealthTech sector. Ensuring that every voice is heard, respected, and valued helps create an industry that attracts and nurtures diverse talent, while developing technologies and services that meet the needs of all communities. Equality goes beyond representation; it

requires addressing systemic barriers and driving meaningful change. Tackling health inequalities has become a key priority for both the NHS and the HealthTech community. To lead efforts in this critical area, ABHI established its Health Inequalities Group in 2025, with a particular focus on Women’s Health, recognising the significant opportunities to improve outcomes in this area.

Dr. Nina Wilson, Clinical Advisor to ABHI since 2024, has played a central role in shaping these initiatives. “Women’s health has been historically overlooked, yet addressing these

disparities presents an opportunity to improve outcomes not just for women but for all communities. By ensuring that research reflects sex-specific needs and fostering collaboration between the clinical community and industry, we can deliver more equitable solutions. Leaders from all walks of life will be crucial in driving this progress.” Dr. Wilson explains. On International Women’s Day, several female leaders from ABHI’s member network shared

their thoughts on leadership, diversity, and the steps needed to create a more inclusive HealthTech sector.

leadership has made a significant impact on advancing epilepsy care globally. “As a global leader in healthcare technology, I am acutely aware of the role HealthTech plays, in collaboration with healthcare providers and institutions, in driving positive long-term health outcomes. With a clear vision for patient- centred innovation, we can transform care delivery and improve outcomes for all. “My vision for the HealthTech sector is

anchored in three core areas: equitable access for all, systems transformation through technology and innovation, and environmental sustainability. Leaders must adopt bold, innovative strategies to foster growth, efficiency, and patient-centric care. A vision is not just about aspirations; it is about actionable steps that enable healthcare organisations to achieve long-term, meaningful change. “I am passionate about creating a workplace

culture where all genders thrive, in an organisation with diversity and inclusion at its heart. Diversity is not just a social imperative – it is a business imperative,” Stephanie comments. She highlights a study by Boston Consulting Group which found that companies with above-
