Healthcare Estates 2019 will mark the launch of an exciting new era for IHEEM, the Institute says, when CEO, Pete Sellars, outlines its five-year strategic Business Plan.

Building on the five key themes that were first launched in late 2017, the new Business Plan ‘focuses on meeting the needs of members, and further raising the profile of IHEEM throughout the industry, both in the UK and overseas’. Speaking about the strategy, Pete Sellars said: “The primary purpose of the Institute is to ensure that our members have the professional and technical capability and support to deliver a healthcare estates environment that is safe, efficient, and effective for patients, staff, and visitors.”

He continued: “Our new plan is very much focused on providing improved membership benefits to both our personal and Company Affiliate members, which will include incentivising and promoting branch activities to support and grow local membership. We will also be working closely with our specialist Technical Platforms to produce much-needed IHEEM practitioners’ guidance. Another

key component of our plan is to provide increased national and local accredited CPD activities, and develop a dedicated online platform for members, to enable them to easily capture and record all their CPD and learning activities in one space, to comply with their Engineering Council registration requirements.”

IHEEM President, Ian Hinitt, added: “I’m pleased that I’ve been able to continue and build on the vision for the Institute set out by my predecessor. I’m also particularly enthused and encouraged by the positive responses we’ve already received from the head office team, Council members, and several branches and key stakeholders that we have discussed and developed our plans with.” Pete Sellars and Ian Hinitt will be outlining the strategy at the IHEEM Annual General Meeting, which is being held at 1pm on Tuesday 8 October in Central Room 6 at Manchester Central. Attendance is open to all members, who are encouraged to bring along any non- member colleagues who may be interested in hearing more about IHEEM’s plans. Look out for a more in-depth report in next month’s HEJ.
