INSTITUTE NEWS Institute’s rallying call for help

As part of IHEEM’s rapid response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a dedicated email address has been established (covid19responses@iheem.org.uk), to connect members, both individual and corporate, with the NHS England & NHS Improvement Estates and Facilities team and the Devolved Administrations. As the number of coronavirus cases began to increase, the Institute started to receive emails and telephone calls from across its membership asking how it could support and help the NHS, and offering technical and professional skills, services, and products.

CEO, Pete Sellars, said: “Clearly there was a strong desire among our membership to help our NHS EFM community, who are working tirelessly to keep patients and staff safe, so I approached the Estates team at NHS E&I to discuss how IHEEM could best support it. We agreed that the Institute’s support would be two-fold – namely, that we would promptly disseminate the team’s key messages to our membership via email, website, and social media, and, more importantly, that IHEEM would act as a conduit to our members to facilitate any urgent requests they had for specialist

services. The same offer of help and support was also agreed with the estates teams in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. “A dedicated email address was quickly established and publicised via the IHEEM website and social media to enable affiliate companies and individual members to submit their specific offers of help and support. There has been a tremendous response from our membership to the requests we have sent out, and all offers of support are being forwarded to relevant people at NHS E&I daily. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has responded so swiftly, and if you are keen to lend your support, please forward your details and offer – either by email to the dedicated email address, or by completing the online form at: https://www.iheem.org.uk/ Covid-19-responses. We will then ensure that they are passed on to the relevant people at NHS E&I, who will then contact you directly.”

He added: “Please also regularly monitor our website (www.iheem.org.uk) to keep up to date on all key messages and urgent requests relating to COVID-19.”
