The Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority (ILGA) is
responsible for licensing approval and other regulatory functions in NSW. The main legislation governing the sector includes the Casino Control Act 1992, Betting and Racing Act 1998 and Gaming Machines Act 2001. The Betting and Racing Act 1998 and the Totalisator Act 1997 underwent some reforms in 2018 with gambling advertising
restrictions to make it unlawful to offer anyone in NSW any encouragement to gamble.
