Amcor has signed an MOU with Nova Chemi- cals for the purchase of mechanically recycled polyethylene resin (rPE) to be used in flexible packaging films. The supply agreement would enable Amcor to pur- chase Syndigo rPE resin, manufactured at Nova Chemicals’ first mechani- cal recycling facility in Connersville, Indiana, in the US, which is projected to be in operation in 2025.

Interzero and OMV join up for sorting venture
German waste management company Interzero and Austrian chemicals and materials group OMV have formed a joint venture (JV) to build and operate a fully automatic sorting plant with a capacity of up to 260,000 tonnes/yr in Walldürn, Germany. OMV will hold 89.9% of
the shares while the remaining 10.1% will belong to Interzero, which currently operates five plants in Germany and sorts about a third of the country’s lightweight packaging waste. Construction of the plant will start soon, with production expected to begin in 2026. The facility will sort feedstock for OMV’s chemical recycling process for use at an industrial scale. The ReOil technology developed and patented by OMV is a chemical recycling technique that converts waste into pyrolysis oil. The
