Integrated size reduction on show at NPE 2024
At the NPE 2024 exhibition in Florida in May, developers of shredding technology for waste plastics showed new units with improved throughputs, versatility and reliability. By Mikell Knights
An increasingly diverse range of waste materials is being met with an array of solutions from shredder suppliers. A crop of combination shredder-granula- tor units join innovations in rotor, knife, cutter, motor and control designs for standalone shredder units designed for downsizing large and small products. Vecoplan’s VAZ line of modular single-shaft
shredders for size reduction of a diverse and wide range of infeed materials is now offered in a configuration to handle fishing nets. The compo- nent selection for this plastics solution prevents this material type from wrapping around the rotor while achieving high product throughput, said Bill

Davidson, VP of Operations at Vecoplan’s North American headquarters in North Carolina, at the company’s exhibiting booth at the NPE 2024 show. The new configuration is currently available only
in Europe and is based on selecting the correct cutter, counter knife, and rotor design, along with a balanced amount of ram feed and power upgrade, said Davidson. The configuration is based on Vecoplan’s VAZ film and fibre shredder models with its SureCut cutting systems designed for single-stage reduction of films and fibres. The FF series is built for high throughput, handles high bulk density materials, and provides precise cut lengths while eliminating material wrapping.
