increase its market presence. “Many rPP resins have different melt-flow rate, molecular weight, or thermal stability [compared to] virgin resins, which ultimately limit where rPP can be used—especially where impact perfor- mance, strength, or clarity are critical,” said Deidre Sandrock, Director of Sustainability and Innovation, Milliken’s Chemical Business. “Working together, Pan Era Group can use its extensive recycled content experience to promote an rPP resin alternative that is enhanced with leading Milliken additives – like Milliken’s Millad NX8000 [a clarifier] and DeltaMax [a performance modifier to improve physical properties and processability] – to address these shortcomings.” Vincent Wang, South Asia Commercial Leader of
Milliken’s Plastic Additives business, said: “The insights provided by Pan Era Group regarding the Indonesian plastic recycling industry will be instrumental in developing future grades that meet the specific needs and preferences of the market. Together, we will deliver innovative solutions that drive growth and sustainability.” In another partnership, Milliken began collabo- rating with Ohio-based PureCycle Technologies in
2019 to develop Ultra-Pure Recycled (UPR) resin, and the first commercial shipment went out in fall 2023 for production trials. “Milliken’s Millad NX8000 imparts crystal-clear clarity to UPR, making it a high-quality alternative to virgin resins. In addition to quality and clarity, PureCycle’s recycling process uses less energy and releases fewer carbon emissions than virgin plastic production,” said Sandrock. “By optimising the performance of transparent
rPP resin, Milliken can help unlock the barriers currently facing broader rPP use, showing brand owners and manufacturers that choosing more sustainable plastics won’t compromise perfor- mance,” she said.
Masterbatches for rPET German masterbatch producer Lifocolor has added to its LifoCycle portfolio for stabilising recycled plastics through multiple recycling cycles. The latest is LifoCycle Stab 5/132 rPET, which protects the contents of rPET bottles without causing significant changes in the colouring when used in the appropriate let-down-ratio. The formulation meets the strict requirements of EU
