NEWS Changes at the top at Erema
Klaus Feichtinger has stepped down as joint CEO of Erema Group at his own request. He will continue to contribute his expertise to the plastics recycling technology group in the area of IP and new technologies. Manfred Hackl continues as CEO and Horst Wolfsgruber, CFO, is now
responsible for strategic planning and development of the group. Hackl is handing over operational management of the Erema subsidiary. Markus Huber-Lindinger and Michael Heitzinger are now Managing Directors, with Huber-Lindinger in charge of technology and production, and Heitzinger in charge of sales, customer services and project planning. Erema Group announced that 2018/19 was the most successful business year in the company’s history. Consolidated total turnover increased 16% to more than €180m in 2018/19. The group has also started an expansion project at its headquarters in Ansfelden, Austria. The project, which started at the end of March, is scheduled to go into operation in spring 2020. �

EPRO reveals award winners
Winners were announced during the IdentiPlast event in March for the biennial awards presented by the European Association of Plastics Recycling and Recovery Organisations (EPRO). The awards are aimed at recognising innovative and sustainable recycled plastic products. Orkla Home and Personal Care won the Sustainability category with the Jordan Green Clean Toothbrush. The toothbrush handle is made of post-consumer, food grade recycled plastic. The filaments are Nylon 1010 and 100% bio-based. Daniel Bondeson, Senior Product Developer, Orkla Home and Personal Care, said: “We hope that the recognition of this product will highlight the need for
better infrastructure and sorting of recyclates.” Alpla Werke won the Innovation
category with ‘The Simple One’: the monolayer HDPE bottle design does not need a a cap, is 60% lighter than a conventional HDPE bottle and is 100% recyclable. It can be used for refills or single use packaging and is particularly suited to single use. Presenting the award, Javier Constante,
President of PlasticsEurope, said: “[The winners’] forward thinking approach and entrepreneurial spirit are proof that we are on the right track to enabling the new plastics economy.” �
