Work starts on major facility in Belgium
Morssinkhof-Rymoplast Group has broken ground on a new plastics packaging recycling facility in Lommel, which will service approxi- mately 4m Belgian house- holds – around 80% of Belgium’s total. Once operational, it will turn everyday household waste such as milk bottles, butter tubs, and shampoo contain- ers, into high-quality recycled materials that can be used again in packaging. “Despite the challenges facing the recycling industry, we remain fully committed to our mission: transforming plastic waste into high-quali- ty materials that can be used again and again,” said Evy Morssinkhof, Organisation & Business Development of Morssinkhof-Rymoplast Group. “This new facility is not only an investment in infrastructure but a promise to Belgian households that

their efforts to recycle make a difference.” The company, which is owned by Ingka Invest- ments, said that despite mounting challenges in the recycling sector – from rising costs and labour shortages to shifting regulations – this development sends a clear signal that building a circular future takes bold commitment, collaboration,

Erema reports lower sales and mixed markets
Plastics recycling machinery group Erema said it experienced a decline in sales of around 13% to €330m in the 2024/25 financial year. Despite this, the Austrian company said it has maintained stability and set an important strategic course based on its strong market presence. The range of technologies and solutions offered by the companies in the Erema Group mean that it covers the entire value chain of mechanical plastics recycling. While the European market has been subdued, the group has experi- enced positive momentum in North America and Asia. Recently, it has

noticed a reluctance to invest in the polyolefins post-consumer segment, but said demand for recycling solutions for production waste and bottle-to- bottle applications has remained stable and there is a clear trend towards implementing larger-scale machines in both the PET and PO sectors. Furthermore, the company notes
that the growth of plastics recycling can be seen not only in established segments, but increasingly in newer application segments involving chemical recycling and fibre/textile recycling.
