operating costs combined with high quality at the same time. Hydrodyn says that this was achieved using the HydroCleaner, which works on the basis of precise friction. The flakes are transported together with water into the HydroCleaner where two discs – one static and one rotating – apply friction through specialised tools to the surface of the flakes. Box Final Washing facility. This is a 40 ft container- ised unit, including a float-sink tank to separate bottle caps and labels, a HydroCleaner and Mechanical Dryer to reduce the moisture content. Process water is constantly cleaned in a WTB Water Treatment Box, which integrates a full two-stage flotation system in a 20 ft container, reducing water consumption to a minimum. The plant was delivered in January 2020 and installed by the client using the installation manual. As a result of the containerised system, everything comes ready to operate – pre-cabled and pre- piped. The client only needed to place the units, install railing and stairs, connect the units with two supply pipes and connect the main electrical power. Hydrodyn’s commissioning engineers arrived at the beginning of March and after some on-site checks and tests produced the first material on the fourth day. The whole commissioning process, which included integration of the system in the entire plant and on-site training, was con- cluded within 14 days and the plant handed over to the client. Hydrodyn says that the Russian market is

hot washing system. The company says that the main function of the hot washer is washing plastic flakes with hot water (up to 85˚C) and detergents, achieving high-quality standards for downstream processing steps, such as the manufacturing of food-grade plastic products. The HWK 3000 hot washing system, enables a continuous washing process due to its rotating carrousel with individual washing chambers. Each chamber is fitted with an agitator for mixing the flakes into the washing liquid and added mechanical impact to free up the flakes and remove contamination. The retention time can be adjusted to match the degree of soiling by changing the speed of the carousel. The flakes are fed into the carrousel at one side and after a nearly full rotation the flakes are discharged via a screw conveyor, which dewaters and trans- ports the flakes to the next step in the process. The washing liquid runs in a parallel loop, which enables continuous cleaning, heating and dosing of chemicals when necessary. According to the company, the HWK washing system offers a number of advantages. These include low power consumption with high washing performance and continuous infeed and discharge – the operation of the entire washing unit is continuous. Cleaning of the washing liquid is also continuous in a parallel circuit. The temperature of washing liquid is stable over the retention time. Agitators add mechanical friction for cleaning in combination with the hot temperature and chemi- cals. Exact addition of sodium hydroxide solution (low dosing) and other additives is possible if necessary. Finally, there is a long, adjustable dwell time due to the rotating chamber.
