The plant has run smoothly from day one and delivers a very high output quality that is in great demand.” Hydrodyn has supplied a Russian customer with containerised washing technology as part of a processing plant for recycled PET.UPAX Unity is based in Perm and is a large producer of single use plastic cups, dishes and packaging, primarily serving the Russian market. In 2019 UPAX Unity decided to invest in a processing plant for recycled PET to meet increased local demand for the material. However, the availability of high-quality recycled PET material – needed to be guaranteed for the production of the planned end-use products – is very limited. In order to avoid a deficit of suitable available material, the company set-up a PET processing line consisting of washing technology, sifting, flake sorting, extrusion, polycondensation and thermoforming. The input material is already pre-washed and
comes from various sources, although it still contains, to some extent, bottle caps and some flakes that are still contaminated with glue and labels. This material was not suitable for the downstream process. Consequently, UPAX Unity was looking for a washing solution to clean these flakes. However, the installation space was tight and the client was looking for a short installation time, which could be guaranteed by using its containerised solution, says Hydrodyn.
