NEWS Netstal opens US subsidiary
Swiss injection moulding machine maker Netstal is strengthening its presence in the North American market through a new US subsidiary called Netstal Inc. The development comes after its parent company Krauss Maffei gave Netstal operational independence
in August 2021.

Crestwood buys four LS Mtron electric machines
Crestwood Industries, a custom moulder based in Mundelein, Illinois, US, has bought four new LS Mtron injection moulding ma- chines. These are from the WIS-E series of all-electric machines and have clamp- ing forces of 120, 190, 240 and 310 US tons. The purchase brings the total number of machines Crestwood operates to 22. The company is in the
midst of a $1.2m expansion to address new demand, particularly from the medical industry. The investment also includes robotics, an automated screen-printing

line and customised software. The first project, for the second largest of the new machines, will be a PS canister body with a lid moulded from HDPE for a major medical parts supplier in Chicago. The largest will soon be used with a robot for another medical part application. According to company
President Des Paden, Crestwood picked LS Mtron for its expertise in all-electric machines, and its fast delivery times. “We are moving towards using all-electric moulding machines in our plant and
LS Mtron had a very strong value proposition,” he said. “We like the fact that they have local parts and service. Plus, we have older LG machines from 1995 and 1996 that are still running that we recently upgraded.” Crestwood currently
operates out of a 15,000 sq ft facility but plans to double its footprint once it has added a second shift. As well as medical applications, it supplies the commercial lighting, automotive and material handling market, typically using PCs and glass-filled PAs. �

While we will focus on packaging and health care markets, any real high-volume application is a potential Netstal customer,” Haberman said. �
