With the Solef PVDF AM filament MSC NT 1, Solvay is joining the Material Alliance programme formed by Ultimaker. “Our new Solef PVDF filament extends material options for engineers and designers to include fluorinated semi-crystalline thermoplastics,” says Christophe Schramm, Manager of New Technolo- gies for Solvay’s Specialty Polymers global business unit. “The filament opens up a wide range of new FFF possibilities especially in the chemical processing, semi-conductor and oil and gas industries.” Solef PVDF AM filament MSC NT 1 provides long term perfor- mance up to 120°C, including good chemical resistance and UV, weathering


and oxidation resistance. The product is also high


purity. These features make it


particularly suited for outdoor applications and parts in contact with harsh chemical environments. Lubrizol Engineered Polymers has


introduced Estane 3D TPU M95A, which is the


only TPU certified for HP’s Multi Jet Fusion 4200 series 3D printing solution. As a certified HP materials partner, Estane 3D TPU M95A has been developed in close collaboration with HP. Lubrizol’s materials development work was supported by an extensive beta testing program conducted by ZiggZagg, a Belgian 3D printing service provider


and member of HP’s Digital Manufacturing Network. Lubrizol says that the release of Estane 3D TPU


M95A will allow Lubrizol customers to target a variety of commercial TPU applications effectively with an advanced additive manufacturing technol- ogy. Applications for the new material include footwear and prostheses, wearables (skin contact certification pending), seals and a wide variety of industrial applications. Estane 3D TPU M95A is a flexible thermoplastic material with good process- ing and cold unpacking properties similar to PA12 while delivering good elongation and tensile strength. The new material also has good energy rebound, high impact absorption, a low abrasion rate and good compression. The company has also developed Estane 3D TPU M95A powder TPU that has passed skin sensitisation and cytotoxicity tests in accordance with ISO 10993-5 and 10993-10. This enables Estane 3D TPU M95A to be a valuable material solution for product designers exploring 3D printing for end-use applications that require skin contact – from consumer products to medical devices. It is certified for use on the HP Jet Fusion 4200 series 3D printing solution – the only TPU certified as such. Carbon has developed RPU 130, a tough, rigid and high temperature additive manufacturing mate- rial suitable for rigorous applications in automotive, which is partly derived from plant-based materials. The company says that RPU 130 addresses the need for superior impact resistance and dimension- al stability at elevated temperatures. RPU 130 is also highly relevant for a wide range of industrial and consumer product applications, such as air ducts
