Netstal purchase gives Krones entry to moulding market
Swiss injection moulding machinery group Netstal has been sold by KraussMaffei to Krones for around €170m. Netstal has been a long- standing supplier to Germany-based Krones, which is a leading technology group for filling and packaging beverages and liquid foods. In the 2023 fiscal year, Netstal
generated revenue of more than €200m with a workforce of around 530 employees. Krones said the profitability of Netstal “is currently below the Krones Group level but is expected to close this gap over the coming years”. The Netstal acquisition is an
expansion into injection moulding technology for Krones, which benefits the group not just in the liquid packaging market but also in new sectors. Krones said: “Netstal’s PET and Cap businesses complement Krones’ product portfolio for the beverage market. With respect to PET
based in Näfels, Krones is acquiring Netstal Deutschland GmbH, a sales and service subsidiary based in Stuttgart, plus eleven other sales and service units in the US, South America, Europe and Asia. All existing Netstal jobs will be retained and the company will continue to manage its business independently with Renzo Davatz as CEO. KraussMaffei CEO Chi Zhang said:

Group’s total sales in the 2023 financial year was just under 20%. Its sale gives KraussMaffei the leeway to make further investments. �

Arburg mourns the loss of former co-head Eugen Hehl
Eugen Hehl, who co-headed Arburg from the 1950s, passed away on 12 Decem- ber aged 94. As Managing Partner, Hehl played a key role in the success of the family company. “In Eugen Hehl, Arburg and the entire industry have lost a down-to-earth and success-orientated person, entrepreneur and pioneer,” Arburg said. with a keen instinct for sales, he played a decisive role in shaping the business for
more than seven decades in co-operation with his brother Karl, who died in 2010. Arburg called Eugen the “master builder of the company”. In 2000, the Federal Republic of Ger- many honoured him with the Federal Cross of Merit and in 2015 he was induct- ed into the Plastics Hall of Fame. In 2020, he received the Richard Vieweg Medal of Honour, the highest award of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). �

Rosti gets new plant in Turkey
Rosti is to commission a new injection moulding plant in Silivri, Turkey. The 6,500 m² plant will
provide Rosti Turkey with additional capacity as well as extend its clean room capabilities. The cleanroom area has ISO-8 classification certification for food contact packaging and medical device manufac- turing, currently with two moulding machines. �
