modelling cards for more than fifty materials. The company ensures the data cards are validated with

real-world confirmation through its testing facilities and in partnerships

with Tier producers to confirm duplica- tion in actual parts. Ascend Performance Materials said

its novel Vydyne AVS PA is specially designed to dampen noise, vibrations, and harshness (NVH) while providing enough rigidity for structural applica- tions in vehicles, where it improves cabin sound while reducing part weight, according to Steve Man- ning, Senior Director for Engi- neered Materials.

NVH reduction Vydyne AVS dampens vibrations better than traditional PA66, especially at the higher frequen- cies of EV motors, the company said. In third-party testing, Vydyne AVS was three times more effective at damping than standard PA66, and 20 times more effective than aluminium, the company said.

The material is being used on a mounting

bracket for an electric AC compressor for the Cadillac Lyriq. Ascend is validating the material in EV motor mounts, transmission housings, valve covers, intake manifolds and other automotive NVH applications, where it can provide in cabin NVH reductions up to 93% versus standard polymers and metals, said Manning. The company recently launched new grades that

round out the portfolio, allowing customers to select the optimal balance of damping and mechanical performance by operating tempera- ture. Processing Vydyne AVS closely resembles standard PA66 with glass fibre reinforcement, the company said.
