Recycled film takeover in US

US-based Revolution Sustainable Solutions, which recycles plastics into film products, has acquired agricultural and industrial films producer Norflex. It says the takeover will raise its capabilities in agriculture solutions and expand its sustainable stretch and shrink film businesses. The acquisition includes Norflex’s Agriseal silage wrap, which Revolution says complements its own portfolio. “Integrating Agriseal silage wrap enhances our ability to offer compre- hensive, sustainable solutions to the agricultural community,” said Scott Coleman, president of Revolution. “The acquisition allows us to further help farmers and agricultural busi-

nesses create less waste and increase efficiency.” Norflex’s stretch film business

presents significant synergies with Revolution’s own, and includes technology to expand Revolution’s blown stretch film to complement its current cast film products. It says this will allow the production of higher- quality, more sustainable stretch films for a wide range of industrial applications. In addition, Norflex’s expertise in shrink films and Revolution’s expertise in post-consumer recycled materials will allow it to offer shrink films with PCR content, said Revolution. www.revolutioncompany.com

Simona’s first-half results dip

Simona of Germany saw declines in both sales and profits in the first half of the year.

Sales fell by nearly 7% to €298 million (US$328m), while profitability (EBIT) fell by nearly 19% to €21m (US$23m). The decline was due to a “less

favourable product mix and lower earnings generated in EMEA and the Americas”, said the company. Although

sales volumes remained stable, sales prices declined in the face of intense competition, it added. Simona has revised downwards its

estimated annual revenue from €620-640m (US$683-705m) to €580-600m (US$639-661m). “We remain confident that we will achieve an EBIT margin of 6-8%,” said Matthias Schönberg, CEO of Simona. www.simona.de
